چکیده

ObjectivesDevelopments in both technique and technology have enabled surgeons to perform the maze procedure via right minithoracotomy (RMT) treat atrial fibrillation (AF). This study aimed clarify outcomes of modified cryomaze RMT approach compared with sternotomy approach.MethodsThe cohort comprised 803 consecutive patients who underwent a (130 673 sternotomy) for paroxysmal AF persistent from January 2001 March 2022. The Gray test was applied compare incidence recurrent tachyarrhythmias. Additionally, residual electrical gaps were investigated additional catheter ablation tachyarrhythmias.ResultsThe respective 1-, 2-, 3-year cumulative incidences tachyarrhythmias 13.1%, 19.5%, 23.1% group, 9.3%, 10.9%, 12.8% group (Gray P = .036). All 31 ablation, comprising 14 (10.8%) 17 (2.5%) group. There significant intergroup difference site gaps; more frequently had tricuspid annulus than (6.2% vs 0.4%; < .001).ConclusionsIn approach, failure is likely occur at annulus, where surgical field view relatively poor approach. Therefore, should be performed caution when used.

Surgical Outcomes of Cardiac Myxoma: Right Minithoracotomy Approach versus Median Sternotomy Approach

BACKGROUND The standard approach in treating cardiac myxoma is the median full sternotomy. With the evolution of surgical techniques, the right minithoracotomy approach has emerged as an alternative method. Since few studies have been published assessing the right minithoracotomy approach, we performed a retrospective study to compare the clinical outcomes of the right minithoracotomy approach ...

Unilateral pulmonary oedema after minimally invasive cardiac surgery via right anterolateral minithoracotomy.

OBJECTIVES To investigate the incidence of unilateral pulmonary oedema after minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) requiring unilateral lung collapse has been unknown until now. METHODS We analysed the data of 484 consecutive patients undergoing minimally invasive cardiac surgery with unilateral lung collapse between January 2008 and December 2013. The clinical regimen was changed in 2010...

Outcomes of reoperative aortic valve replacement via right mini-thoracotomy versus median sternotomy.

BACKGROUND AND AIM OF THE STUDY The study aim was to determine the safety and efficacy of a minimally invasive right mini-thoracotomy for aortic valve replacement (AVR) in patients who had undergone previous median sternotomy. METHODS Between January 2005 and December 2011, a total of 3,603 consecutive cases was retrospectively reviewed to identify patients with previous median sternotomy who...

Right to left interatrial communications after the modified Fontan procedure: identification and management with transcatheter occlusion.

OBJECTIVE To describe unusual venous communications from the right to the left atrium resulting in cyanosis after the modified Fontan procedure, and their management with transcatheter occlusion. METHODS Between September 1992 and November 1994, eight patients were assessed for persistent cyanosis after a modified Fontan procedure. Desaturation was found to be caused by unusual venous shunts ...

Right anterior minithoracotomy for aortic valve replacement.

We present the case of a 78-year-old lady with severe aortic stenosis who underwent cardiovascular investigations for ingravescent dyspnea [New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class III] undergoing minimally invasive aortic valve replacement (MIAVR) through right anterior minithoracotomy (RT). The patient’s height and weight were 170 cm and 62 kg, respectively. Risk factors included hy...
